We are lucky in Shelby county to have so many great playgrounds and parks to explore. From swings to slides, to climbing walls and water features, Shelbyville and surrounding areas parks and playgrounds keep my kids active, are a great place to meet old friends (and make new friends!), and they're FREE!
I often get asked what our favorite playgrounds are, so I thought I'd share here with you my family's picks for our top five playgrounds and parks to visit in Shelby, Spencer and Henry counties!

Campbellsburg Station Train Park

What we love about Campbellsburg Station Train Park:
If you have a train lover in the family, you have to visit this park! The train playground was custom designed for Campbellsburg Station and resembles an old locomotive train! There is a steam engine, coal car, tanker car, and caboose. There is so much to explore!

Clear Creek Park

What we love about Clear Creek Park:
Talk about a park that has everything! We love that there are multiple playgrounds so the little kids have a place of their own and the big kids too! The Family Activity Center is right there if you want to use their amenities like the pool or basketball courts. There are walking trails and horseback trails. There is something for everyone at Clear Creek!

Finchville Park name

What we love about Finchville Park:
It's a smaller park but one of our favorites! The playground is lots of fun with a small rock climbing wall, little bat cave to crawl through, swings and more! It's a perfect place for a family picnic!

Ray Jewell Memorial Park

What we love about Ray Jewell Memorial Park:
Ray Jewell is a great little park off of Taylorsville road! The playground is lots of fun with a variety of slides and things to climb! It's close to a number of food options inTaylorsville so it's a great place for a picnic!

Waterford Park

What we love about Waterford Park:
Last but certainly not least, is Waterford Park! Waterford Park is home to a great playground! There is a nearby creek, perfect for skipping rocks. There are lots of picnic tables, perfectly located in the shade. There is lots of fun to be had here!
